Overview

Before any work with animals commences, all procedures using live vertebrate animals whether new or on-going, or proposed for funding, and irrespective of source or presence of funding, whether conducted at the University or elsewhere by faculty in the discharge of their University duties and responsibilities must be reviewed by the IACUC. This shall include use of animals for research, instruction, or demonstration purposes (with the exception of non-University farm animals utilized for demonstration purposes by Rutgers Cooperative Extension). or on-going, or proposed for funding, and irrespective of source or presence of funding, whether conducted at the University or elsewhere by faculty in the discharge of their University duties and responsibilities must be reviewed by the IACUC.

All animal protocol submissions to the IACUC must be made through the IACUC Protocol Submission Website.

Animal Protocol Submission Process

All animal protocol submissions to the IACUC must be made through the IACUC Protocol Submission Website.

  1. A new PI must first register and be approved as a user for the IACUC Protocol Submission Website in order to submit a protocol. 
  2. Once the protocol has been submitted, the PI will need to add all personnel who will work on the protocol to the personnel tab on the IACUC Protocol Submission Website.
  3. These personnel will also need to have registered for the IACUC Protocol Submission Website.
  4. Must Complete Orientation Training and Occupational Health Clearance.
